Cradle II

Cradle II
Collected from a fallen turkey oak in the hills near my studio, Cradle is a vessel that holds the quiet memory of the forest. Turned on the lathe from a single block of wood, its wide, low form emerged through a slow, attentive dialogue with the material. The piece features a fluid, asymmetric rim that gives it a sense of movement and softness, like a sheltering form, a gesture of embrace.
The oak’s natural grain, subtle cracks, and textures have been preserved and celebrated, allowing the history of the tree to speak through the form. Cradle is both sculptural and functional, but above all, it invites contemplation. It is a tribute to the living material and the process of listening that guides my work.
