This vessel comes from the very heart of a sycamore whose trunk measured over a meter across. I had milled the tree into slabs, and this piece was born from an offcut — a small scarf of wood that would otherwise have ended up in the fire.

Inside it, I found a story that almost vanished. When the tree was young, it must have come close to drying out completely, yet it held on. It healed, recovered, and kept growing, stronger and healthier with time.

This small form carries that memory: a quiet reminder of resilience, of what survives, and of the unexpected beauty hidden in a forgotten piece of wood.
